VENICE DESIGN BIENNIAL 2016

Design Walks Through Venice

Press point: Palazzo Loredan, Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti, Campo Santo Stefano, San Marco 2847, Venice.

Opening hours: 10:00 - 18:00, closed on Mondays.

VENICE DESIGN BIENNIAL is an exhibition platform in which antique palaces, galleries, old warehouses, closed shops and empty houses are temporarily transformed into design spaces. VENICE DESIGN BIENNIAL combines the unicity of the design creation with the immersive experience that Venice itself entails.

In 2016 the first edition of VENICE DESIGN BIENNIAL took place. In a city where time flows at a different velocity, where the perception of space is shaped by the rhythm of the steps, walking implies a disposition to encounter and discovery that is impossible elsewhere. VENICE DESIGN BIENNIAL is a walk through two neighbourhoods of Venice, Castello and Dorsoduro, where the main cultural landmarks of the city are located. The official venues of the Biennale, Giardini and Arsenale, in Castello; the Museum of Punta della Dogana (Pinault Foundation), the Peggy Guggenheim Collection and the newly refurbished Gallerie dell’Accademia in Dorsoduro.

VENICE DESIGN BIENNIAL takes place at the same time as the Venice Biennale of Architecture 2016, creating pathways across the city. Its goal is to take advantage of an unmissable occasion of visibility for high-profile design projects, thus pollinating with creativity unused spaces in the urban context.
