Platform Earth presents SKYWALK, a visionary proposal for an elevated walkway above the Venetian Lagoon’s biodiverse yet largely inaccessible salt marshes. This proposed walkway will provide an immersive  experience, inviting visitors to engage with one of Europe’s most beautiful biodiverse wetlands, providing an  unparalleled educational journey over the intricate tidal channels and turquoise waterways of salt marshes and seagrass habitats. Designed to highlight the rich ornithological biodiversity of the area, the walkway is  anchored by an island that will host a cultural and scientific gallery, creating a destination for Venetians and  visitors alike.

The idea for SKYWALK was conceived by Italian / English artist Petroc Sesti and developed in partnership  with Laura Onofri and our partners at the University of Padua, Andrea D’alpaos and Adriano Sfriso. The  project aims to make the natural landscape of  Venice more accessible while advancing efforts to protect and  restore the salt marsh.  This concept was further developed with our architectural partners Ivan Harbour and RSHP,  whose  commitment to low-impact, high-performance design ensures SKYWALK is both visionary and practical,  setting a new standard for environmental architecture in Venice.
