SPAESANTE The art of doing the right thing was created by Patrizia Giambi and Daniela Manzolli from the ashes of the 2014 exhibition SPAESATI L'arte di fare qualcosa assieme (SPAESATI The art of doing something together), when a spontaneous meeting of a small group of artists from different backgrounds generated a lasting intellectual and existential agreement, a welcoming comfort zone.

While the inspiration for SPAESATI was a painting housed at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, depicting a ship laden with colourful characters, perhaps pirates, wandering without knowing what fate awaits them, the SPAESANTE exhibition takes its cue from Spike Lee's explosive 1989 movie Do the Right Thing. The title is a phrase uttered by a drunkard, and in the film each protagonist holds their own truth, based on inevitable reasons, and each inevitably runs againts to the reasons of the other, until the final tragedy.

The aspiration, the ambition of SPAESANTE The Fine Art of Doing the Right Thing is precisely to leave the cosy comfort zone of the SPAESATI and expose oneself to the risky adventure of breaking out of the established framework independently. SPAESANTE brings together artists with immeasurable experiences, allowing them to act according to a script that is far from standardisation. The works themselves will speak for themselves, assuming the inevitable consequences.
