The Georgian Pavilion at the 2026 Venice Biennale launches its Modern Argonauts from a modern-day Georgian Crossroads - a meeting point of worlds between Asia, Europe, and Africa.

Like the mythical voyagers, today’s artists navigate shifting currents of culture, politics, and technology, charting routes through fragmentation, displacement, and renewal. Rooted in Georgia’s deep mytho-historical associations with the Argonauts and the Golden Fleece, Modern Argonauts reframes the journey not as a nostalgic return to origins, but as a living, ongoing voyage through exchange and transformation.

This curatorial premise takes its point of departure from Georgia’s long history as a confluence of trade routes - a place where art, language, and culture have circulated as goods, symbols, and ideas. In this sense, Georgia’s position is not merely geographic but symbolic: a modern-day “Georgian crossroads” where ancient myth meets the urgent questions of the present.
