SPARC* - Spazio Arte Contemporanea is pleased to present Aria Da Capo, a Venetian musical tale by Luca Scarlini with images by Alvise Bittente, inspired by the book Nuova Guida Sentimentale di Venezia.
Alvise Bittente is a Venetian artist who works mainly with drawing, through which he develops works characterised by subtle elegance and imbued with irony. The series, recently presented in the city, is enriched in this new exhibition with previously unseen drawings and a soundscape curated by Luca Scarlini. Scarlini, a Florentine essayist, performer and playwright, invited Bittente to contribute to his book Nuova guida sentimentale di Venezia (Marsilio Editore, 2024) with research, maps, itineraries and, in particular, illustrations.
"Venice is a musical city, a place where the famous notes of the Lamento del Tasso echo, which gondoliers sang until the beginning of the 20th century, leaving an indelible mark on Richard Wagner's auditory memory. Music is a hidden map of places and paths, which Luca Scarlini retraces in several episodes of the centuries-old relationship between the city and the musicians who lived there or drew inspiration from it, starting with the book Nuova guida sentimentale di Venezia."
