AtWork Tour / Where is South?

For the Rothko in Lampedusa project, VeniceArtFactory and UNHCR teamed up with the Molsekine Foundation to host one of their AtWork workshops entitled "Where is South?".
DATES
The workshop will be held 09.09.2019 - 13.09.2019 with an exhibition of the notebooks created during the workshop on 16.09.2019, all located at Palazzo Querini.
TARGET
The workshop is mainly dedicated to people who are living as political refugees, holders of subsidiary protection or asylum seekers, but we welcome all candidates to apply. We seek to create a group of people from diverse backgrounds with different strengths to create discussions that consider different viewpoints and perspectives.
So we are looking for young Venetians to participate!
Each workshop is limited to 25 people, male and female, and will be conducted in English by the well-known writer, curator and philosopher Simon Njami.
Essential criteria for applicants are:
- 18-25 years of age / 30 years of age (applicants between 25 - 30 with a background in education such as teaching, tutoring or classroom facilitator
- Knowledge of the English language
- A completed application form (see below) submitted before the deadline of 31.08.2019

"Where is South?"
The workshop invites participants to ask themselves, "Where is South?". The South as a word, a place, or a direction. Free interpretation is encouraged to help develop intellectual and emotional abilities necessary to strengthen the sense of personal and collective identity.
The theme "Where is South?" intends to free our minds from the prejudices and ideologies that crowd our heads when we think of cardinal points, prompting us to reconsider them for what they are: directions.

In occasione della mostra Rothko in Lampedusa abbiamo avviato una partnership con la Fondazione Moleskine per l'organizzazione di un loro workshop, intitolato "Where is South?".
DATE
Il workshop si terrà dal 9 al 13 settembre e la mostra dei taccuini prodotti durante il workshop sarà inaugurata il 16 settembre, tutto a Palazzo Querini.
TARGET
Il workshop è prevalentemente dedicato a candidati in possesso dello status di rifugiato politico, titolari di protezione sussidiaria e richiedenti asilo ma accoglieremo anche candidati con diverse caratteristiche per poter comporre una classe mista ed eterogenea, che possa contemplare diversi background e punti da vista.
Quindi cerchiamo ragazzi Veneziani interessati a partecipare!
Il workshop è a numero chiuso a 25 persone (ragazzi e ragazze), è condotto dal famoso scrittore, curatore e filosofo Simon Njami in lingua inglese.
I criteri essenziali sono:
- Età: 18-25 / 30 anni (fino a 30 per chi abbia un background da facilitatore, educatore, tutor)
- Conoscenza della lingua inglese

"Where is South?"
Il workshop invita i partecipanti a chiedersi, "Where is South? Dove'è il Sud?" Il Sud come parola, luogo, direzione. L'interpretazione è libera a aiuta a sviluppare le capacità intellettuali ed emotive necessarie al rafforzamento del senso di identità personale e collettivo.
Il tema "Where is South?" vuole liberare la nostra mente da tutti quei pregiudizi e ideologie che affollano le nostre teste quando nominiamo i punti cardinali e a riconsiderali per quello che sono: direzioni.
